The end of the year always reminds me that it’s the perfect moment to look back, acknowledge what we’ve lived, and understand how every experience—whether joyful or challenging—has shaped us.
For me, 2025 has been a year of profound transformation: the publication of my second book “Fear and I”, travels through different cities, conferences that expanded my horizons, the arrival of new people in my life, the presence of those who remain, and above all, the family that has always been my refuge. Thanks to all of this, I’ve been able to reconnect with my purpose and strengthen my emotional well-being.
When Life Pulls the Ground From Under You: The Beginning of Transformation
In February 2012, I lived one of the hardest moments of my life: I lost my job unexpectedly. It wasn’t a graceful exit, but a quiet dismissal that made me question everything—my identity, my value, and my purpose. I felt I had lost not only a job, but friendships and the sense of belonging to a place. It was my dark night of the soul.
In those days, the question “Who am I without my job?” haunted me. But it was also the moment that opened the door to something that would change my life: learning to use gratitude as a tool for personal growth.
When everything felt lost, I created a habit that has supported me for years: writing down ten things I was grateful for every day.
At first, they were small things—a place to sleep, a plate of food, the calmness of my breath. Over time, deeper reflections began to appear: the resilience I was developing, the opportunities emerging, and the possibility of rebuilding myself.
I soon realized that gratitude doesn’t just improve how we perceive life; it directly impacts our emotional well-being.
When you learn to appreciate what you have and what is yet to come, you open your mind and heart to new possibilities and begin to build a better version of yourself.
The Benefits of Gratitude That Transform Your Emotional Well-Being
1. You Recover Your Inner Value
When you no longer depend on professional titles or roles, you discover that your worth has always been within you. Gratitude has taught me to look inward and sustain my identity without external validation.
2. You Strengthen Your Inner Self
Being grateful even in moments of uncertainty calms the body. My emotional well-being grew every time I turned loss into learning and difficulty into opportunity.
3. You Create Space for New Opportunities
Being grateful for what hasn’t arrived yet has helped me open my arms to new experiences—publishing my books, meeting wonderful people at conferences and on my travels, and cherishing even more the people who stand by my side. Gratitude transforms uncertainty into trust.
My Gratitude Practices for Personal Growth
Here are the habits I use daily so you can begin practicing gratitude and transform your life:
- Ten reasons a day: Each morning or night, sit down and handwrite ten things you’re grateful for— from the simplest to the deepest.
- Be grateful for what’s coming: Not only for what you already have, but also for what you’re working toward.
- Turn pain into learning: Even when it feels difficult, mistakes and challenges can become gifts if you know how to appreciate what they’ve taught you.
This year, I am deeply grateful for the publication of “Fear and I”, which has helped me connect with new audiences; for the trips and conferences that have broadened my understanding of the world; for the new people who have arrived in my life; for those who remain; and most importantly, for the family that supports me every day.
Today I can say with certainty that the benefits of gratitude go far beyond momentary joy. They form the foundation for rebuilding yourself, strengthening emotional well-being, and advancing in your personal growth.
Being grateful for everything we’ve lived connects us with our inner strength and prepares us to receive what is still to come.
